Playing The Shame Game

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” ― Oscar Wilde

Welcome to my Inspirational Stories blog where each month I will share stories of hope, love and joy to help you understand how you are innocently playing the shame game.

I am sitting here in my Redondo Beach hotel room, gazing out of the window which overlooks the Pacific Ocean. The sky is grey and although we are used to June-gloom at this time of year, the temperature is unusually cold for southern California.

Yet, I am warm, and my heart is full. I have just completed an incredible 3 day intensive with my amazingly lovely and wise mentor, Jacquie Forde.

We laughed, cried and shared, in addition to pizza and wine, stories of our lives, our families and our journeys so far. In my sharing I was particularly struck by how shame has been a constant companion throughout much of my life. It has dictated how I have shown up in relationships and in my career and everything in between, or more accurately I should say, how I haven’t shown up. I look back and see how many times I retreated into hiding, ashamed of the circumstances of my birth, ashamed of my needs and wants, ashamed of my looks and my weight, ashamed of the mistakes I have made and the people I have innocently hurt along the way…. and the list goes on.

I know you, like me have probably got stories about shame too.

I believe that I am one of the lucky ones and I am here to share my story and the stories of others, who have come across a new understanding of how our minds work. This has allowed us to break free of our self-imposed prison of insecurity and shame. There are many people out there who were not so lucky. Their feelings of shame and desperation were too much for them to bare. They took their own lives. They innocently sought relief by the only means they knew how in that moment.

In my Insightful Stories Blog my intention is to share the understanding that has bought relief to my life and the lives of many others who were suffering. I want to show you a way to let go of self-limiting beliefs and start living the joyful, loved-filled life that is available to us all. I want to remind everyone that we don’t have to live a life defined by shame. It’s a label we’ve put on ourselves, a past event or an old memory or belief. Shame doesn’t serve us or anyone else. It keeps us small and in hiding. Afraid to be seen for who we truly are, magnificent formless spiritual beings, doing the best we can as we navigate our time on earth in our human form.

Thank you, Jacquie, for the lovely heartfelt, soul to soul connection we shared over the last few days. I am forever grateful for how this Understanding has connected me with such beautiful souls as you, and how it continues to deepen and inform the direction my life is taking.

I would like you to invite you to take a look and listen to this beautiful insightful conversation with Jacquie Forde, on the following links.
